Cities across California have teamed up to buy and manage electricity on behalf of their residents — it’s called Community Choice Energy, and the Clean Energy Alliance is San Diego County’s version, jointly run by seven member cities.
By combining their buying power, member cities fund local programs like Solar Plus, while SDG&E continues to deliver electricity over the same lines and handle the poles and wires, exactly as before.
